What’s in a Name? The story of “Voices of the Northeast”

When we decided to relaunch our blog, the goal wasn’t just a new layout or design. We needed a name that reflected who we are, where we work, and whom we serve.

The name came out of conversations with A4TD’s Digital Media Committee. After considering a range of ideas, Voices of the Northeast stood out. It speaks to both our roots in the region and the people at the center of our mission.

We operate in five states—Connecticut, Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. Each has its own character. But what connects our work across them all are the voices of older adults—people sharing their experiences, setting new goals, and continuing to contribute in meaningful ways.

This blog will highlight those voices. It will share reflections and insights from participants, staff, employers, and community partners. Our hope is that Voices of the Northeast will deepen understanding, celebrate impact, and reaffirm our belief in the value of work at every stage of life.

We invite you to follow along and discover the stories that shape our region—and our purpose.
