 Associates for Training and Development (A4TD) is a nationally recognized workforce development non-profit that originated in 1983.  A4TD administers job-training programs for mature workers in five states: CT, ME, NY, PA, and VT.  We recognize the dignity and worth of our program participants and hold firm in the belief that mature workers have the right to contribute to their economic stability.  When a program participant is offered a job consistent with their interests and abilities, we at A4TD are uplifted and energized to do it again with the next participant.  As the demographics of our country’s workforce change, we know mature workers bring needed skills and talents to the workplace.

We have a dynamic team of professionals with very diverse backgrounds! Our team is made up of former restaurant managers, human services experts, healthcare providers, project managers, teachers, coaches, accountants, veterans, and many more. We can train the right person!

The Job:                                                                                                                                                                        We have an immediate opening for a motivated professional to join our team. The Grants and Information Director is a key management role that contributes to successful team building, and leads important writing initiatives vital for A4TD’s overall sustainability. Writing is a central component of this position, with responsibilities that include finding and completing competitive grant proposals, develop and update company policies, complete quarterly and annual grant reports, and develop an annual company report, which this position will be able to design! The position provides leadership in the area of public relations, publicity and marketing, and oversees the company’s marketing efforts, including social media and website content, to increase program visibility and expand local partnerships.  The position also manages human resources functions related to talent cultivation. Position is remote, with an option to work in an A4TD office.   An applicant must reside in one of A4TD’s service areas (Connecticut, Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont).

Job Functions:    Lead the organization in the composition and submission of grants and funding applications, including research and analysis, for existing and new grant opportunities.

  • Prepare quarterly and annual grant reports related to minority service, equitable distribution, etc.
  • Draft, modify and maintain company policies including those in the Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
  • Develop communication strategies that reflect the organization’s strategic vision, promote the work of A4TD, and encourage public support and project participation.
  • Direct marketing and public relations efforts; work with media outlets to publish company information such as press releases, human-interest stories, and updates on project activities.
  • Manage content on the company website and promote company activities on all social media platforms.
  • Support Program staff to explore, cultivate and maintain relationships with local partners in the aging services and workforce sectors to increase program capacity and support Good Jobs Principles.
    • Assist with the on-boarding / offboarding of professional staff, and other program personnel actions

Salary:  $59,000

What you bring to the role:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in English/writing, business, or related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in business, preferably in the non-profit sector. Solid skills and understanding how to research, identify, and complete grant proposals.  Strong writing skills are necessary!
  • Ability to create and implement marketing plans and strategies to promote program successes in all forms of media (social, print, radio, and TV)
  • Knowledge of best practices around the recruitment, retention, and management of human capital
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with community leaders and the public, and in general
  • Relationship-building skills: outreach, networking, responsiveness, creativity, and understanding of cultural diversity
  • Strong Commitment to teamwork and collaboration, while also able to work independently with minimal direction
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills that enables you to work on several tasks/projects at a time
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with community leaders, the public and staff. Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office suite products including Word, Excel and Outlook; file management skills; online research skills
  • Authorization to work in the USA required.

The other $1,295,852 (10%) is funded through State and Local resources.
