Connecticut Older Worker Virtual Training Program

Connecticut Older Worker Virtual Training Program

This exciting new program connects Connecticut’s talented older job seekers with access to virtual job skills training programs and job development services. More detail about this program is below. This program is only available to residents of New Haven County, CT.

Overview

The Connecticut Older Worker Virtual Job Training Program is designed to provide low-income people who are age 55+ with access to job skills training virtually. By providing them with laptops and internet hot spots, this program connects people who live in rural areas or are caring for family members and cannot get to job training sites in person. Participants are also paired with a training consultant to enroll in online courses, update their skills. Then, they are connected with a job developer to help find and secure employment.

Eligibility

Older adults who are age 55+, low-income, unemployed, unable to access in-person job training classes (lack of transportation or technology, etc.), and must have basic computer skills. Individuals living in New Haven County are eligible for participation. Candidates must have a desire to train and learn! Program slots are limited, so not everyone who qualifies will be able to enroll.

Training and Jobs

The program works with participants to determine the right training for the job they seek. We focus on jobs that are high-growth, high-demand. In this program, particular emphasis includes jobs in food service and health care, but we work with other industries too. We work with each participant to determine the right career path for them.
